Weddings in Dominica

Dominica is a spectacular green island of rugged mountains, lush rainforests and rushing rivers in the Eastern Caribbean. It lies south of Guadeloupe and north of Martinique and is the least developed of the Windward Islands. Hotels are mainly small, family run affairs and have a more intimate feel, with some of them set in the old time buildings around the coast or hidden in the foliage.

With a landscape boasting rainforests, waterfalls, gardens, hot mineral streams and volcanic outcrops, Dominica is a great option for couples looking for an active eco experience, such as hiking or diving. Other popular activities on the island include snorkelling, bird watching and whale watching.

Here are some more tips for weddings in Dominica:

Get married outdoors: Dominica has such a diverse landscape… plan a wedding under a waterfall, such as Sari Sari Falls or the Emerald Pool, which will bring the wonderful colours of nature to the event, or even near the ocean, where you can feel the cool breeze and hear the crashing of the waves!

Relax with a spa alfresco: A massage or a deep soak before your big day (separately of course!) will help you feel relaxed and calm. Enjoy a treatment at the Jungle Bay Resort and Spa – or maybe unwind in one of the island’s natural sulphur pools in Wotten Waven?

A gift to remember: Destination wedding treats will remind your guests of your special day and give them memories of the island to take home. The ‘wife leader’ is a traditional Carib craft made by Dominica’s indigenous people – and is sure to bring some laughs!

Consider the elements: Find out about the typical weather conditions for the time of your wedding, as it may affect some of your choices – such as your hairstyle! Dominica is a tropical rainforest island and, as such, tropical weather should be expected.
